Morrow · a fictional sunrise lamp

Wake to light, not to noise.

Morrow is a bedside lamp that starts the sunrise half an hour before the sun does. It is invented for this page, which tells its launch story three ways.

  1. 05:40Morrow begins at 1800 K, the colour of embers.
  2. 05:55The room warms. Nothing has made a sound.
  3. 06:10The sun clears the ridge and takes over.
Concept visual: the bedroom just after sunrise. The sun sits above a far ridge in the window's upper right pane, and light lies across the floor beside a glowing dome lamp.
Concept visual · the room at 06:10, drawn in code

Chapter two · Sunrise

Thirty minutes, ember to daylight.

Morrow climbs from 1800 K, the colour of a fire's last embers, to 6500 K, the colour of an overcast noon, in slow and even steps. The change is gentle enough that you notice the room before you notice the lamp.

Chapter three · The object

One dome, one dial.

A frosted glass dome on a walnut base. One dial sets the time you want to be awake; turning it is the whole interface. No app, no account, no screen to glow at you in the dark.

Chapter four · Quiet

Made to be quiet.

Everything about Morrow is turned down: no chime, no blinking standby light, nothing to read at three in the morning.

Chapter five · The proof

One story, three ways, audited.

Cinematic does not have to mean inaccessible. Auto follows your system's reduced-motion setting; the switch at the top overrides it and is remembered on this device. Every chapter is a link in the rail, and focus moves to the chapter you choose.

  1. Full

The dawn is pinned and scrubbed by the scroll, light shafts drift through the window, the colour of the light follows the scroll, and the lamp's glow breathes.

  2. Reduced

The same story, held: one picture of the room just after sunrise with still light, no pinning and no scrubbing. Text and steps fade in once; nothing travels.

  3. Static

A calm document: no motion at all, the picture as a framed still, everything in one column. It is also what the page shows without JavaScript.

No audit has run yet.
